Stay on-trend in your garden!
Burpee  Edible Gardening Team Members

The folks at Pantone® have announced their selection for Color Of The Year 2017, and it’s a fantastic choice for gardening fans! Greenery (15-0343) is “symbolic of new beginnings” says Pantone color experts. It is also a hue to satisfy our growing desire to “rejuvenate and revitalize.”

Showcasing Greenery and your ability to stay in style is easy through your flower or vegetable garden. Most of our vegetables from Burpee are green! Feel free to mix in those edibles like Kale Storm and Pesto Party basil amongst your colorful flowers. Or inter-plant some green-leaf strawberries in your lettuce patch.

Oh, and some tomato plants can be ornamental, too. Don’t relegate them to the corner of your backyard. Place them out front! Look for compact varieties with great leaf coverage, like Homeslice or new Patio Choice Yellow. A vining cucumber like Fresh Pickles can create a screen of Greenery if grown up a tall trellis or a chain link fence.

As for green “flowers,” Wasabi coleus offers great texture and can be placed in sun or shade. Lamium Jade Frost makes a great groundcover or tuck it under a shady space. Marguerite sweet potato vine trails beautifully from window boxes or mixed containers.

And don’t forget about all those herbs in the Greenery shade: Dill, Mint, Lemon Balm, Cilantro, Herb Celery and more. Browse them all at our herbs list.

Get creative with the Color Of The Year! And be sure to share photos of your stylish designs. Tag us at social sites @BurpeeHG.
